Paul Smith officially launches his first Australian Flagship
Christine attended the launch party for Paul Smith's new store on Collins Street, and true to form, the boutique is individual, colourful and eclectic like the designer himself.
“I have always wanted to have a shop in Melbourne because it is famous for its appeal as a city and I am especially excited about the fact we will open in such a magnificent building as I like each of my shops to reflect a unique character.” Paul Smith
Well a flagship Paul Smith store is certainly a welcome addition to Collins St, and the occasion was celebrated in style with drinks at the store followed by an after party at Comme. Christine has long admired Paul Smith as an inspirational designer who has maintained his vision over a long and creative career, which only promises to continue its course of growth and invention. The iconic item of the house is of course the ‘Paul Smith shirt’, which can be compared only to Etro in its inspired use of bold colour and print (Christine’s husband, Peter Barro, is an avid collector boasting a kaleidoscopic array of Paul Smith shirts). Below are a few photos from the launch courtesy of Monty Coles, see more at www.theloupe.org.
